Cooperatives provide education and training for their members, elected representatives, managers, and employees so they can contribute effectively to the development of their cooperatives. They inform the general public – particularly young people and opinion leaders – about the nature and benefits of co-operation.
What is our purpose?
Edu4all.coop gathers a variety of knowledge initiatives and training tools that have been developed and coordinated under the umbrella of the ICA-EU partnership (#coops4dev🌏). All the educational materials are easily accessible and ranging from open source tools to interactive resources for lifelong learning. The aim of this is to:
- Educate, train, and inform cooperative members on various topics of their interest
- Improve public understanding of the significance of the cooperative model
- Engage and inspire stakeholders through cooperative experience

The pillars of edu4all.coop
Give the power in business to people
Cooperatives are people-centred enterprises owned, controlled, and run by the members to achieve their common economic, social, and cultural needs and aspirations. Cooperatives bring people together in a democratic and equal way, directed by “one member, one vote” principle. Through co-ownership and inclusive governance, coops give the power in business back to people & their communities.
Skills and knowledge for all
Developing practical skills and knowledge is important for all cooperative’s members and employees, since it will help them with their professional efficiency and capacity to adapt to new technologies and opportunities. All trainings and education materials will be open, accessible, and available to all. Through dynamic discussions both the interaction amongst cooperative members and their engagement with other stakeholders will be increased.
We are all innovators
Promoting and encouraging innovative thinking by putting cooperative at the centre of a challenging economic social and environmental system is our “thinking out of the box” approach. With the necessary tools, skills, and knowledge we can all be innovators and ambassadors of the cooperative model!
What is #coops4dev🌏?
In March 2016, the International Co-operative Alliance entered into a partnership with the European Commission, ushering in a new phase of collaboration on strengthening the cooperative movement as development actors.
The ICA-EU partnership ( #coops4dev🌏) aims to bring the cooperative model to the next level within international development policies and programs. It is built around activities focused on increasing visibility, enhancing advocacy, sharing capacity building, strengthening cooperative development networking, and supporting all these with evidence from exhaustive research.
Acting as partners, the regional and global offices of the ICA are driving the actions, in collaboration with members, civil society organisations, international institutions, and the EU.
For the past 5 years, #coops4dev🌏 team has been working on growing visibility, enhancing advocacy, sharing and providing capacity building, strengthening cooperative development networking, establishing partnerships with other stakeholders, and supporting the whole with evidence from research.

What is the International Cooperative Alliance?
The International Cooperative Alliance is the voice of cooperatives worldwide.
It was established in 1895 to promote the cooperative model. Today cooperative members represent at least 12% of humanity. It is the apex body representing cooperatives, which are estimated to be around 3 million worldwide, providing a global voice and forum for knowledge, expertise and co-ordinated action for and about cooperatives.
To implement its activities, the International Cooperative Alliance is organised with a Global Office based in Brussels, four Regional Offices (Africa, Americas, Asia-Pacific, and Europe), eight Global Sectoral Organisations (agriculture, banking, retail, fisheries, health, housing, insurance, and industry & services), and five Committees and Networks (gender, research, law, youth, and development).
